UTTRANCHAL HIMALAYAS ……
90 days of planning, 3415 Kms, 1400 Kms of mountain roads, 260 liters of petrol, Ford Fusion, 3 campsites, 3 hotels, 2 adults, 2 children, 16 days, rain, sun, snow, 2500 - 3.3 mp pictures, 25 video clips, digitalized to 4 gb and memories of pain and pleasure through the Garwal and Kumaon Hills of Uttranchal and the breath taking Himalayas.
14TH October, 06.
Waking up early, we (me, Anu, Brijo and Nidish) into the fusion @ 515 am from Ahmedabad. The kids, Brijo and Nidish still sleepy and excited and Anu trying to fight off sleep. The baggage in the boot a tad heavy this time with winter cloths 4 the hills. Hit the expressway toll gates in no time, the car growling, horses galloping @ 130 kmph, we’re past Himmatnagar, Shymalaji and in Udaipur pronto in 3 hours. Cross the bypass, miss the road towards Bhilwara, u turn and off on the 4 lane expressway towards Jaipur. Bad stretch for 30 Km near Chittaurgarh and then again we whiz-off on a nice 4 lane, sometimes 6 lane highway. 1 hour lunch break @ Hotel Panghat, Nazirabad, hit the Jaipur bye pass and reach Guargaon @ 530 PM. 900 Kms in 12 hours is as good as the Rajdhani express; 3 cheers for the fusion, she does fly some…..
The nightmare starts @ Gurgaon; traffic like treacle with bells on. Cars going left, right, centre, down up; like the old saying. Cars and cars everywhere … no ware to drive !!!! Hard work about roads through Goggle earth, advice of friends evaporate and all I could do was to avoid getting nicked by some maniac on a prowl. Took 2 /3 wrong turns, as predicted by Anu, reached Ghaziabad somehow by 8PM !!!! Boy… O..Boy , Am I glad we reached home in once piece !!!!!
